Carlos de Aldecoa Bueno, is president of Maximus Coffee Group and Cadeco Industries. Located on Houston’s east side, the firms are part of a third generation, family-owned group of companies focused exclusively on the coffee industry.

After substantial investment, along with the hands-on management of Mr. de Aldecoa, Cadeco Industries retrofitted and modernized the old Uncle Ben’s rice processing facility on Clinton Drive, converting it to the largest and most diversified independent coffee processing facility in North America. Taking advantage of the proximity to the Port of Houston, Cadeco receives and processes on a daily basis over one million pounds of coffee from origins worldwide. In addition to operating New York Board of Trade-certified coffee warehouses, Cadeco utilizes state-of-the-art technologies to provide bulk silo storage, cleaning, blending, steaming, and handling services for coffee industry participants from around the globe.

At the end of 2006, Mr. de Aldecoa formed Maximus Coffee Group and successfully completed the acquisition of Houston’s historic Maxwell House coffee plant. This purchase saved over 350 jobs and ensures that Houston will remain an international coffee center many years into the future. As a complement to Cadeco’s bulk handling operations, the Maximus plant is North America’s largest integrated roasting, decaffeination, soluble and packaging facility, in addition to handling rice packaging and powdered soft drinks.

Mr. de Aldecoa Bueno, a graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in Industrial Engineering, has also been active in growing the coffee industry in Harris County and worked with community leaders in forming the Greater Houston Coffee Association. His goal is to bring additional coffee warehouses, roasters, retailers, and the many associated service providers to Houston in the hopes of consolidating the area’s clear importance as the major coffee industry center in the United States.
